We will celebrate our 70th anniversary this Friday, March 20, with the event “Powering What’s Next”, to be held at our headquarters in Milan. The initiative will bring together institutions and leading figures from the energy sector to reflect on the evolution of the Italian and global power systems and to discuss the challenges ahead.
Founded in 1956 during Italy’s post-war reconstruction, CESI was established as an applied research center supporting the country’s electrification. Over the decades, the Group has contributed to the development, safety, and modernization of energy infrastructures, working alongside operators and institutions on grid expansion, technical standards, and advanced technologies. Its journey mirrors the transformation of the power system—from post-war demand growth to today’s transition toward increasingly decarbonized and interconnected systems.
Now an international group active in over 70 countries, CESI combines strategic and engineering consultancy with advanced testing of electrical components and infrastructures. We are also among the world’s leading producers of high-efficiency solar cells for space applications, designed and manufactured in Milan and used in numerous international satellite programs.
The event will feature prominent speakers including Gilberto Pichetto Fratin (MASE Minister), Nicola Dell’Acqua (President of ARERA), and top energy CEOs such as Flavio Cattaneo (Enel), Giuseppina Di Foggia (Terna), Massimo Battaini (Prysmian), Renato Mazzoncini (A2A) and Nicola Monti (Edison). Will be present on stage also our President Guido Bortoni and our CEO Nicola Melchiotti, moderated by Monica Maggioni, Italian journalist and television host.
Discussions will focus on decarbonization, energy security, infrastructure development, and innovation in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape.
