Landslides happen when sites with certain soil conditions are hit by intense rainfall. To define the risk and design proper mitigation measures, ISMES takes the following approach:
- Definition of the geological conditions at the site
- Analysis of hydraulic, hydrological and hydrogeological conditions at the site
- Interaction between natural events and structures (e.g. landslides)
- Numerical models for vulnerability assessment
- Definition and design of mitigation measures for reducing/mitigating risk
- Design, installation and management of monitoring systems to reduce the risk
