CESI was pleased to contribute to the Energy Symposium on Energy Security, organized by the Italian Association of Energy Economists (AIEE) and hosted by Sapienza University of Rome from 20 to 22 November.
Alessio Cipullo, Head of Italy & EU Public Affairs at CESI, took part in the plenary session “Grid Security and Energy Storage”, where he underlined the growing infrastructure challenge posed by the energy transition. He stressed the need to accelerate investments in electricity grids, scale up the industrial supply chain and testing capabilities, and strengthen cross-border interconnections to ensure system security and enable decarbonization.
Chaired by Stefano Brogelli, Legal & Regulatory Director at Axpo Italia, the plenary highlighted how the rise of non-programmable renewables makes flexibility, storage, and robust transmission networks essential to maintain system stability.
The panel also featured Francesco Peccianti of ERG, who discussed negative price hours and the value of electrifying demand, and Giuseppe Cicerani of Enel, who addressed the rapid development of Battery Energy Storage Systems.
CESI is glad to have supported this important event and to contribute to the strategic debate on Europe’s energy security.
