CESI and ITCOLD continue their monitoring on Italian dams

Upon the presentation, by ITCOLD (Italian Committee on Large Dams) and CESI , of their latest study on the status of small dams, last September, an Observatory has been created in order to keep highlighting possible areas of intervention and improvement for small dams.

Alberto Masera (CESI Product Leader of Dam Safety Assessment) , has been chosen as the coordinator of the activities of the Observatory, due to his expertise and CESI’s crucial role in dam monitoring , in Italy and elsewhere.

Specifically, the new institution was created with the following tasks:

• Provide a periodic update on the 2017 Bulletin . The need for updating comes from the evolution of the regional censuses and the regulatory measures prepared by the different Italian regions
• Identify possible in-depth initiatives, discussions and training sessions on aspects relating to minor dams, which may be useful for the technical community and the administrations involved in the issue
• Collect and disseminate experiences and case histories related to small dams

With this initiative, CESI confirms its commitment in the field of monitoring systems for Infrastructures and plants, developed through six decades of experience with numerical modelling and monitoring systems that are globally recognized .
