As the ongoing energy transition requires digitalization with intelligent electronic devices for measurement, protection and control in our power systems, electric grids demand more communication between grid components, in order to ensure that energy flows are correctly monitored and controlled which is vital delivering a stable and reliable electricity supply .
This places ever greater importance on metering, protection, and substation automation (MPSA) equipment. A substation automation system is a collection of hardware and software components that are used to monitor and control an electrical system, both locally and remotely. A substation automation system also automates some repetitive and error-prone activities to increase the overall efficiency and productivity of the system .
In this respect, the S&ST department within the KEMA Labs Metering, Protection and Substation Automation Laboratory offers tests on such components, together with the KEMA Labs High-Power and high-voltage Laboratories .
Tested and certified under the ISO 17025 accreditation, according to a range of international standards, the KEMA Labs (CESI’s Testing, Inspection and Certification Division) facilities have state-of-the-art equipment and the right know-how to test such components.
In our laboratories, KEMA Labs experts offer testing and certification of all kind of MPSA equipment , from electromechanical to electronic and digital. Once the equipment has successfully completed all the required tests to recognized standards, we issue the KEMA Type Test Certificate and, for energy meters, the additional EU Type Examination Certificate .
