On April 27th (10.30am – 12pm, CET), during the webinar “5G and advanced connectivity for the energy transition“, organized by Elettricità Futura in partnership with CESI, the protagonists of the electricity and ICT sectors will discuss the technological opportunities related to digitalization, with a particular focus on 5G and connectivity advanced, and their role in achieving the Green Deal 2030 target and implementing the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
In fact, new digital technologies and innovation, by changing the way electricity is produced, transported and consumed, will play a key role in the energy transition process. For this reason, digitalization will be one of the pillars of the Green Recovery with at least 20% of the funds of the PNRR that must be allocated to the development of digital infrastructures and skills.
In this context, it will be essential to leverage digital technologies such as 5G and advanced connectivity. In particular, 5G will be able to help utilities to collect a large amount of increasingly precise data, allowing optimized management of plants, networks and consumption and thus allowing them to accommodate increasing shares of renewable energy and distributed generation. In addition, the large bandwidth of 5G will ensure very fast response times for utilities and the enhancement of maintenance and monitoring of networks, guaranteeing ever greater resilience.
