AIEE’s panel on Grid Security and New Technologies with CESI’s CEO, Matteo Codazzi

Today, our CEO, Matteo Codazzi, has taken part in the Grid Security and New Technologies session of the digital event “5th AIEE Energy Symposium Current and Future Challenges to Energy Security”.

Focused on the energy perspectives beyond COVID-19, the panel featured the CESI Group CEO, alongside Salvatore Pinto (President Axpo Italia), Giovanni Valtorta (Manager Enel Distribution, Italy) and Massimo Derchi (Chief Industrial Assets Officer Snam, Italy).

In its speech, Matteo Codazzi mentioned how “Moving to a decarbonized economy would allow to enhance the security of supply, since the renewable primary resources are distributed across the European territory”, adding that “In this context, a clear regulatory and legislative framework is needed to give long term signals to investors and facilitate the implementation of those solutions”.

As the focus of the discussion moved towards the role of renewable energy, our CEO underlined how “The diffusion of high shares of renewables, beneficial to the decarbonization and the energy security, could be facilitated by three innovations: interconnections connecting renewable generation with demand, storage infrastructure to enhance the system flexibility, use of green hydrogen to enable an effective cross-sector coupling”.
