ARNHEM, Netherlands, 25/09/2026 – KEMA Labs welcomed His Excellency Augusto Massari, Ambassador of Italy to the Netherlands, and Maarten van den Bos, Alderman of the Municipality of Arnhem, to its Arnhem laboratories for a visit focused on innovation, testing excellence and the critical role of advanced technologies in supporting the energy transition.
During the visit, Ambassador Massari and Alderman van den Bos gained firsthand insight into the strategic role of KEMA Labs from our CEO Nicola Melchiotti. KEMA Labs plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of electricity infrastructure. Discussions also highlighted the growing importance of resilient and modern power networks as electricity systems evolve to integrate increasing shares of renewable energy and support the electrification of industry, transport and society.
The visit included a tour of the campus’ state-of-the-art facilities, including the renowned High Power Lab, the world’s largest short-circuit testing facility. Here, electrical components and systems are subjected to rigorous testing to verify their performance under the most demanding operating conditions.
The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between Italian institutions and one of the energy sector’s most internationally recognized centers of excellence, underscoring the value of technological innovation, industrial expertise and international collaboration in building the power systems of the future.
