Since 2023, CESI has been providing consulting services to the Botswana Renewable Energy Support Project, reinforcing the country’s legislative and policy framework for the implementation of an Integrated Resources Plan (IRP). This initiative is a significant step toward enhancing Botswana’s energy sector governance and fostering private investments in renewable energy.
The project’s primary objectives include evaluating sector policies and regulations in alignment with the recently approved IRP, as well as engaging stakeholders at both national and state levels to gather best practices and lessons learned. Additionally, CESI is delivering strategic consulting services to the Government of Botswana (GOB) to strengthen regulatory frameworks and attract greater private sector participation in the country’s energy transition.
As part of this effort, CESI is also developing essential technical studies and regulatory tools while providing practical training to the Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) management and the Ministry of Minerals and Energy (MME). This training ensures the effective implementation of regulatory recommendations and supports the production of key sector reports.
Moreover, an important milestone of the project has been the development of a new network code for Botswana, further strengthening the country’s electricity infrastructure and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources.
Through these contributions, CESI continues to play an important role in advancing Botswana’s sustainable energy future, reinforcing its commitment to supporting global energy transitions with tailored, high-impact solutions.
