CESI Space’s advanced space solar cells, produced in Milan, will power the new Earth observation satellite Amazônia-1B, scheduled to launch aboard Vega-C rocket in 2027.
Developed by Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the satellite is part of the Amazônia program, designed to monitor deforestation in the Amazon region and support environmental and agricultural monitoring across Brazil.
The mission will provide updated images of the territory every five days, helping authorities and researchers better understand and protect one of the world’s most important ecosystems.
CESI Space’s high-efficiency solar cells have been integrated into the satellite’s solar panels by Orbital Engenharia, a long-standing player in the aerospace sector specialized in the design and production of space solar array systems.
The mission represents another important milestone for CESI Space’s space technologies, confirming the global reliability and performance of our solar cells for critical satellite applications.
