20 . May . 2026

Muscat, Oman – May 20, 2026 – CESI Middle East and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) today signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in engineering education, technical knowledge exchange, and applied expertise in the Sultanate of Oman and across the GCC region.

The agreement was signed on behalf of SQU by Professor Amer bin Saif Al-Hinai, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research, while it was signed on behalf of the company by Pierluigi Vicini, Managing Director Middle East of CESI. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Italian Ambassador to Oman, H.E. Pierluigi D’Elia.

The LoU establishes a framework for collaboration between CESI Middle East and SQU across a range of academic and technical activities. These include expert lectures, seminars, workshops, academic course support, and knowledge-sharing initiatives related to electrical systems, energy infrastructure, and wider engineering disciplines.

Under the agreement, CESI will contribute its international engineering expertise and technical know-how, particularly in the areas of electrical systems and energy-related technologies, while SQU will support CESI’s activities in the GCC region through its academic capabilities and local experience. The collaboration will also involve engagement with master’s students and broader academic initiatives connected to engineering and energy topics.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to bridging academic research and industry expertise, supporting innovation and sustainability, and helping prepare the next generation of engineers for the challenges of the global energy transition.

The agreement is also expected to contribute to capacity building within Oman’s energy, power systems, electrical infrastructure, and sustainability sectors by fostering stronger links between academia and industry and by promoting exposure to international technical expertise and real-world engineering experience.

“We are very pleased to establish this collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University, one of Oman’s most respected academic institutions,” said Pierluigi Vicini, Managing Director at CESI Consulting Middle East. “Through this Letter of Understanding, CESI aims to contribute its international technical expertise to support engineering education, knowledge transfer, and the development of future professionals in the energy and electrical systems sectors of the Sultanate. This initiative reflects our long-term commitment to Oman and to building bridges between industry and academia, in line with the evolving needs of the region’s energy transition.”

The LoU is intended as a non-binding framework for cooperation, with any future projects or binding commitments to be defined separately by the parties.

Through this initiative, CESI further reinforces its role as a long-term technical partner and knowledge contributor supporting the development of Oman’s engineering and energy ecosystem.
