CESI has successfully partnered with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in implementing the Mindanao-Visayas HVDC Interconnection Project (MVIP). The culmination of this significant project was celebrated last week with the official inauguration of the Mindanao-Visayas connection.
The MVIP’s primary goal is to unify the power transmission networks throughout the Philippines, establishing a vital link between the nation’s densely populated islands. This strategic project aims to improve the distribution of energy resources across the country, focusing on enhanced efficiency and reliability.
The inauguration event, which saw attendance from prominent regional authorities, was highlighted by a remote activation of the connection, initiated by H.E. the President of the Philippines. Simultaneously, local leaders from Visayas and Mindanao joined NGCP officials and CESI representatives Stefano Malgarotti, Corrado Mussi, and Alessandro Agustoni at their respective converter stations, marking this momentous occasion.
