KEMA Labs Drive Innovation

KEMA Labs is playing an important role in advancing energy technology and driving the global energy transition. Known for providing cutting-edge solutions, KEMA Labs supports a variety of projects aimed at modernizing energy systems, electrifying the logistics sector, and developing specialized testing for electric vehicle components.

One of the most significant recent developments is the upgrade of the KEMA Powertest high-voltage lab in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. The lab, now capable of generating voltages up to 600,000 volts at 4A, has doubled its previous capacity. This improvement enhances the lab’s ability to ensure the reliability and resilience of energy supply systems, aligning with CESI’s dedication to modernizing and decarbonizing the U.S. electric grid.

KEMA Labs have also been instrumental in two major European projects. One of them, the “Charging Energy Hubs” project seeks to accelerate the electrification of the logistics sector. The project aims to establish zero-emission urban areas by 2025. By using intelligent electric systems, the project will help optimize network efficiency and develop innovative energy solutions for a greener future.

In Berlin, KEMA Labs is working on a new testing platform for electric vehicle components, specifically focusing on technical requirements for CC components. This advanced platform allows for testing under extreme conditions and destructive tests, enhancing the quality and durability of electric vehicle components. The system, capable of generating 1500 VDC, reflects KEMA Labs’ commitment to making electric vehicles more affordable and reliable through rigorous testing and innovation.
