KEMA Labs is leading innovation in the electrical industry with its expertise in testing alternatives to sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a gas long valued for its stability and dielectric strength in high-voltage applications. However, due to SF6’s high greenhouse potential, it traps heat over 23,500 times more effectively than CO2, it is now being phased out.
To meet sustainability demands, KEMA Labs has tested promising SF6-free solutions, including fluoronitrile-based gases and AirPlus™, which offer lower environmental impacts while ensuring effective insulation. These developments support the global shift toward sustainable technology, with KEMA Labs’ skilled technicians ensuring safe handling and disposal of all gases.
Alongside these advancements, KEMA Labs and CESI contribute to renewable energy projects and infrastructure planning in regions like the Arabic Peninsula and Oman, aiding in the transition to greener, more resilient energy systems. This work aligns with CESI’s commitment to the UN SDGs, promoting reliable, emission-free energy and setting a precedent for cleaner technology worldwide.
