Ensuring Grid Reliability: CESI Featured in Corriere della Sera

MILAN – CESI has been spotlighted in L’Economia, the newspaper supplement of Corriere della Sera, for its pivotal role in ensuring a reliable electrical grid. The article details the rigorous testing and certification processes CESI uses to guarantee that grid components perform flawlessly under any conditions.

“The quality of this system is guaranteed through testing and certification, which subject the electrical grid components to extreme stress tests,” said Nicola Melchiotti, CEO of CESI. By replicating real-world extremes such as heat, cold, humidity, and electrical surges, CESI ensures that components are robust and durable.

Testing is not limited to stress tests alone. It also encompasses the integrated operation of various components in real-world scenarios.  “In Milan, we have recreated an environment simulating an old village of 600 houses, with refrigerators, washing machines, pumps, televisions, and many other devices from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s that can interfere with modern components,” Melchiotti added.

Another critical aspect of testing pertains to the digital realm. CESI simulates the behavior of electrical grids in various countries in response to new phenomena. “We have developed advanced models to simulate the behavior of electrical grids in the event of accelerated renewable energy developments, new interconnections between electrical systems, or unexpected events,” Melchiotti noted.

These efforts are crucial for defining the future technical standards of the electrical grid, ensuring its reliability and efficiency in an ever-evolving energy landscape.
