CESI Group Strengthens Hydrogeological Risk Management with ISMES
09 . Sep . 2024

To address Italy’s hydrogeological instability, CESI Group has turned to its subsidiary, ISMES, a civil and infrastructural engineering firm based in Seriate, Bergamo. With a team of 70 experts, ISMES provides end-to-end solutions for land protection, from monitoring hydrogeological phenomena like landslides to implementing early warning systems for community safety.

According to ISMES Director General Francesco Carnevale, the company excels in developing sophisticated monitoring systems and offers complete lifecycle management for complex infrastructures. ISMES has also expanded internationally, implementing real-time monitoring for two dams in Chile and developing environmental impact systems for the Ituverava Solar Plant in Brazil.

ISMES is involved in structural analysis, ensuring the safety of infrastructures like viaducts, dams, and railways, while also focusing on seismic risk assessments. “Our structural analysis ensures both safety and cost-efficiency,” noted Business Development Director Matteo Biello. The company also supports large-scale projects like the Horizonte Solar Park in Brazil, providing engineering certification and environmental consultancy.

Innovative digital tools and early warning systems developed by ISMES enhance real-time risk assessments for climate-related events such as floods and storms. Carnevale stressed that effective hydrogeological risk management is essential to safeguarding infrastructure and the environment, requiring continuous monitoring and strategic investment.
