On September 12th, our Group took part in the “General States of the Space Economy” in Milan, an event dedicated to exploring the development of the space sector. The conference gathered key figures including the Italian Minister of Economic Development, Urso, Italian Space Agency (ASI) President, Valenti, and top executives from Italy’s leading space companies, all united in shaping the future of the industry.
The space economy is growing at an exponential rate. Thank to CESI’s Space Solar Cells group, our cutting-edge solar cells currently power over 100 satellites in orbit. With 20 exclusive patents, CESI stands as the only fully European, and specifically Italian, producer in the top five global manufacturers.
Our high efficiency solar cells for space applications can reach a typical efficiency of 30%. They are qualified for both Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellites. We continuously seek to make our cells more efficient, and our research suggests we will be able to produce four junction cells with space efficiencies beyond 35%.
But the journey doesn’t stop here. Thanks to significant investments, we’re gearing up to triple our production in the next two years, aiming to manufacture 100,000 solar cells annually.
