KEMA Labs supports reliable grid services in Russia
11 . Aug . 2021

As the electricity market is facing increasing demands for reliable services all over the world, this creates big opportunities in a large country with environmental challenges like Russia , where a single synchronous electrical grid encompasses much of the country.

In this respect, KEMA Labs (the CESI testing, Inspection and Certification Division) is fully able to cover all the requirements of National Product Standards GOST and other organizational standards in the Country. For this reason, KEMA Labs has also been accredited by the federal railway transport agency as a competent third-party body for testing fixed installation railway components such as DC switchgear and electric equipment for rolling stock. The accreditation covers both product certification and declarations of conformity.

In particular, KEMA Labs co-ordinates requirements for high-voltage and high-power tests for components and MPSA (Metering Protection System Automation) testing with following organizations:

  • Attestation Committee of JSC ROSSETI
  • R&D Centers of Federal Grid Company UES
  • Federal Testing Center of JSC ROSSETI
  • VEI (RFNC-VNIITF, ROSATOM)
  • RASU (ROSATOM)
  • Profotech
  • VNIIKP

The presence in Russia of 11 time zones and its continental location makes it especially attractive for various projects for the global transmission of electricity and the establishment of various intersystem connections with neighboring countries. At the same time, presence of a large enough number of settlements with autonomous energy in remote regions of Russia makes it attractive for the development of the microgrid solutions .
