Addis Abeba, March 7, 2019 – CESI is attending the workshop "Accelerating the renewable energy transition in Ethiopia", organized by Res4Med. During the event, the Company is presenting its study crafted and developed together with RES4Africa and Enel Foundation focused on the integration of variable renewables into the Ethiopian electrical grid considering the development scenario until 2030. The Ethiopian electric power system is highly dependent on water and particularly exposed to the climate change. In this respect, the Ethiopian Government is focusing on exploiting non-hydro renewable sources to achieve a more diversified energy mix.
The workshop is focused on the long-term strategies for integrating renewable energy into the national electric system, attracting investments and exploiting the socio-economic benefits of renewables in Ethiopia.
The event involves Ethiopian key stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity, and multilateral agencies, like the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union Commission.
