​1st Advanced cable Middle East 2015 conference brought together over 110 senior representatives from leading companies and organizations Internationally and regionally. Delegates took part in detailed debates investigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the Middle East market. The conference proved to be an excellent forum for discussion and knowledge sharing as well as a perfect networking platform for high-level wire and cable executives.
During the first day, Uberto Vercellotti, TCE Market & Product Development, has participated to a panel discussion on how cable manufacturers can maximize their profit margins for advanced cable products, along with Brian Branney – Marketing Manager Borouge Pte Ltd., Bas Verhoeven – Director KEMA laboratories and the moderator Christian Cornelissen, Deputy Head of Division, VDE. The panel were in consensus that quality control and standardization is of high concern for the emerging Middle East cable market in the long term. The big question is how can standardization be adapted and tailored to the Middle East market? Panellists all agreed that more attention to quality control needs to be paid throughout the value chain, from raw material suppliers and cable producers to installers and end-users.
Uberto Vercellotti finished also the morning session of the second day with a speech focusing on challenges and opportunities for hv cables. He identified the key features of the present electrical market and concluded that HDVC is seen as the backbone for the high-capacity transmission network. He then showcased the important role of third party assessment, such as CESI independent measurements, which provide tests and investigations to ensure cable and component manufacturers are producing HV equipment that is of the highest quality .
