In this issue we cover another important event held in September: the inauguration of the innovative CESI HVDC Laboratory in Mannheim (Germany). During a Symposium that followed the event, the world’s primary operators highlighted the key role HVDC is playing in regional interconnection projects. In Europe, the main protagonists of this shift are Germany and Italy, which has the potential to become an electric hub, as Catia Bastioli, the newly appointed Chairwoman of Terna (Italy’s primary TSO), explains in an exclusive interview for this issue of EJ.
