Deal for U.S.-based power engineering and consulting firm expands company’s global reach, synergizing North American and global competencies in support of electricity sector’s innovation

Knoxville, Tenn., USA, July 9, 2018 CESI , a world-leading energy technology and innovation consulting company headquartered in Europe, and EnerNex a leading U.S. electric power engineering and consulting firm today announced a partnership through which EnerNex will be operating under the CESI umbrella.

The acquisition brings together two stable and profitable companies with complementary portfolios to provide utilities, energy investors and regulatory bodies around the world with technical consulting services related to cutting-edge, technology-driven energy solutions.

“We are pleased to partner with EnerNex and its talented employees and management team. By tapping into CESI’s worldwide references, know how, reputation and financial standing, EnerNex will become an even stronger player in the North American market,” said Matteo Codazzi, CEO, CESI. “By enlarging its current service portfolio, EnerNex will be better positioned to serve U.S. utilities as a one-stop-shop outfit providing cutting-edge solutions to meet the energy transition and digital disruption challenges.”

By partnering with EnerNex, CESI extends its service portfolio to the North American market, including extensive capabilities in engineering of complex high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, renewable integration and interconnections, power system studies and market design, planning, implementing and operating advanced digital meters infrastructures. In turn, EnerNex gains access to references and expertise as part of the CESI global network, providing new opportunities for services in grid modernization, cybersecurity and power systems consulting.

EnerNex and CESI will combine their North American and European best practices and competencies in order to address complex, technology-driven challenges in the energy field.

“The combination of the CESI and EnerNex portfolios offers clients a single source for energy solutions to overcome transition challenges related to planning, implementing, and operating power assets and electric infrastructures,” said Jeff Lamoree, EnerNex CEO and co-founder. “This leveraging of knowledge from some of the most creative minds in the energy sector allows both companies to bring added value by combining deep sector competence with a shared innovative mind set.”

The North American electricity sector is a very promising market. For this reason, CESI confirms its interest in evaluating future possible opportunities to enrich its portfolio of “innovation and technology-related” consulting and engineering services, including testing and certification, to further accelerate its own growth by M&A.
