Support for scaling-up Variable Renewable Energy deployment in Azerbaijan
CESI has been selected by the World Bank for providing a comprehensive assessment of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) deployment potential in Azerbaijan for the period 2023-2035.
CESI will deliver:
Four options for targets for renewable energy development in Azerbaijan named “Alternative Renewable Energy Development Targets” (AREDTs), based on consultations with local Ministry of Energy.
List of optimal zones for hydro, solar and wind power generation (on-shore and off-shore) using a multi-criteria analysis, together with estimated potential of each zone.
List of hydropower and VRE Projects for reaching each AREDT, together with location, technology, expected installed capacity and expected LCOE of each project.
Expected annual electricity export potential for each AREDT.
Optimal Transmission System Investment Program for transmission grid upgrades for hydropower and VRE integration and uptake, including transmission upgrades, flexibility measures, transmission lines and cross-border capacity increases for each AREDT.
High-level financial assessment of each Optimal Transmission System Investment Program, mainly including expected annual CAPEX and expected additional annual revenue and tariff requirement for each investment program.
High-level assessment of competitiveness of expected export prices by comparison with expected prices in the target markets.
