Continuous maintenance, updating and verification of Italy’s power network restoration plan.
Following a blackout in 2003, Terna reviewed its strategies for restoring power, after carrying out in-depth static, dynamic and electromagnetic analyses. CESI was selected as technical consultant for the project.
Terna reviewed all its power restoration strategies as a national and regional priority and CESI helped to identify 14 restart paths, including two originating with the French and Swiss networks. The project also created power restoration scenarios to be used on Operator Training Simulators (OTS) and developed decision-making software for the TSO control centre (what-if software).
