CESI at the CAREC Workshop in Tashkent

CESI at the CAREC Workshop in Tashkent
24 . Apr . 2026

On 9–10 April 2026, Andrea Meola,  Global Markets & Business Development Director
– CESI Consulting,  took part as a speaker in the 2026 CAREC Energy Transmission and Interconnectivity Workshop held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, an event focused on “Enhancing Power Interconnectivity and Renewable Energy Integration in the CAREC Region.”

During the workshop, CESI shared its experience and technical perspective on regional interconnection initiatives, drawing on lessons learned from the European power system and market evolution. The contribution highlighted how current policy, market and system-planning dynamics in Europe can offer valuable insights for strengthening cross-border electricity trade, system resilience and long-term infrastructure planning in the CAREC region.

Across discussions on regional interconnectivity, market design and system planning, and flagship initiatives such as the Caspian Green Energy Corridor promoted by the Green Corridor Alliance JV, a clear message emerged: in today’s volatile energy landscape, security of supply increasingly depends on cooperation, diversification and shared infrastructure, rather than isolation.

CESI also presented its ongoing work on large-scale energy corridors connecting Europe with neighbouring regions, including feasibility studies and technical, economic and regulatory assessments for complex HVDC interconnection projects. These initiatives aim to enable the efficient integration of renewable energy resources, enhance security of supply, and create long-term socio-economic and geopolitical value through regional cooperation.

CESI would like to thank the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the invitation and for organizing this important event, as well as all speakers and participants for the open and constructive discussions. CESI looks forward to continuing its engagement with international partners to support the development of reliable, affordable and cleaner power systems through integrated planning, data sharing and robust market frameworks.
