Comprehensive certification services for energy meters in compliance with the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) 2014/32/EU

The Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) 2014/32/EU is a European regulation that establishes harmonized requirements for measuring instruments, including energy meters, to guarantee accuracy, reliability, and consumer protection across the EU. To obtain CE marking under the MID, manufacturers can follow different conformity assessment routes. One option is Module B, which involves an EU Type Examination of the energy meter and leads to the issuance of a Type Examination Certificate. This step must then be followed by either a production system assessment (Module D) or a product verification (Module F) to complete the conformity process.

KEMA Labs is a Notified Body for the MID 2014/32/EU and holds EN ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation for product certification as well as EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for testing and calibration laboratories. Thanks to this expertise, KEMA Labs supports the entire certification process for energy meters. We issue EU-Type Examination Certificates under Module B based on our ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, Certificates of Conformity under Module D (Quality Assurance of the Production Process) based on our ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation, and Certificates of Conformity under Module F (Product Verification). Our comprehensive services ensure full compliance with MID requirements and a reliable path to market for your energy measurement devices.
